Description

Parenting often feels overwhelming with the myriad of advice and contrasting exhortations on what constitutes “good parenting.” How do you navigate these varied suggestions and figure out what truly works for you and your child?

How do you parent to increase the chances that your present decisions shape a future full of possibility, joy, and purpose for your children and for the world they will inherit?

In this six-week series, we will embark on a journey to identify what is important to each of us as parents and what values we hope our children will embrace. Grounded in an appreciation of what we value, we’ll explore:

  • Reflecting on your understanding of parenting, social change, and caregiving.
  • Understanding how your parenting choices influence your child’s well-being and their interaction with the world.
  • Learning the difference between requests and demands, and ensuring your requests attend to both your needs and your child’s needs.
  • Differentiating between protective and punitive uses of force.
  • Recognizing your child’s autonomy in decision-making and managing conflicts effectively.
  • Supporting your children in expressing kindness, caring, and understanding of diverse identities.
  • Encouraging inclusivity by exposing your children to diverse experiences.
  • Modeling behaviors and conflict resolution strategies you want your children to learn.

By the end of this course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of how to use your values as a guiding compass in parenting, ensuring your present actions contribute to a future full of purpose and possibility for your children. Join us to gain the skills and insights needed to balance your child’s present needs with your long-term vision for their well-being and success.
