Support This Work

Much of what I offer is free or low-cost: my articles, the Q&A series, community conversations, and the scholarship spots in my courses. I offer these because I believe the tools of compassion and liberation belong to everyone, and should be available beyond those who can pay full price.

Your support helps keep these doors open.

How Generosity Shaped Me

So much of who I am today grew from the generosity of others.

The Clifford D. Clark Fellowship, which Binghamton University offered to ethnic minority graduate students, paid for my graduate school training. Without it, the path to becoming a psychologist would have been much harder, and maybe out of reach.

I attended my very first Nonviolent Communication event, an International Intensive Training with Marshall Rosenberg, because the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) offered me a scholarship. At that training, I saw people living this work, in real time, with each other. I also noticed my own challenges being met with compassion instead of judgment. That experience moved me deeply. I left inspired, and dedicated to this path.

Years later, the generosity of supporters helped fund the writing and publishing of my books.

Everything I do now grew from those first gifts. I often think about the people who decided someone like me should be in those rooms. I want to pass that same chance on to others.

Why I Ask

For over twenty years, I have worked to help people stay connected to their own humanity and the humanity of others, even in hard conversations about power, privilege, and identity. I have seen what becomes possible when people who were told their needs did not count finally feel heard. I have also seen people with more access to resources learn to use them with care and accountability. Both kinds of change move us toward Beloved Community.

This work takes time, preparation, and resources that do not always show up on an invoice. Writing an article, mentoring a trainer from a community with few resources, or holding a free space for people to bring their real questions are all unpaid work. When you give, you help make that work sustainable.

What Your Support Makes Possible

  • Scholarships and reduced fees for Global Majority participants, people living in the Global South, and anyone for whom cost is a barrier
  • Free offerings, like the Q&A series and articles on the Insights page, open to anyone who needs them
  • Mentoring and support for emerging trainers, especially those who bring this work to their own communities
  • Time to write and create new resources for people working toward more just relationships and systems

Giving From the Heart

In Nonviolent Communication, we talk about giving from the heart. Marshall Rosenberg described it as the joy we feel when we give freely, because we see how our giving contributes to life. This kind of giving comes from choice, free of guilt, obligation, or expectation of return.

I invite you to give in that spirit. Before you choose an amount, you might pause and ask yourself: What would feel like a true “yes” for me right now? What needs of mine are met by contributing? Maybe you will notice gratitude, or a longing for a world where more people have access to this work. Maybe it’s the simple pleasure of being part of something larger than yourself.

If your honest answer today is “not right now,” that is welcome too.

Generosity and Power

Money does not flow evenly in our world. Who has extra to give is often shaped by history, by systems, and by who has been able to build wealth across generations. For me, generosity is one way we can share resources across those lines and repair a little of what systems have pulled apart.

If you have more access to resources, I invite you to consider giving at a level that also supports people who have less. If resources are tight for you, please know that your presence in this community is already a gift. Some of the people who give the most to this work give their time, their stories, and their willingness to keep learning.

Ways to Give

One-Time Gift

Give any amount, once, to support this work where it’s most needed.

Monthly Support

A monthly gift, at any amount, helps me plan ahead and commit to free offerings and scholarships.

Scholarship Fund

Give directly to help people attend courses and programs they could not otherwise afford. This is the same kind of gift that first opened the door for me.

Please note: Roxanne Manning LLC is not a nonprofit, so gifts and contributions are not tax-deductible.

Other Ways to Support

  • Share the work. Forward an article, tell a friend about a course, or bring a colleague to the Q&A series.
  • Invite me to your organization. Paid engagements with organizations help fund the offerings I make free or low-cost for individuals. Get in touch.

Thank You

Whether you give money, time, attention, or care, thank you. Your generosity reaches people I may never meet, in rooms I may never enter. I know this because the generosity of others once reached me. I am deeply grateful to be building this community with you.

With warmth,
Roxy
